It uses 2 AAA batteries (not included in the package) and has a plug and play USB dongle. It uses a 2.4GHz wireless connection that gives it a range of up to 33 feet.
The mouse uses one AA battery.
With the purchase, you also get a rubber keyboard protector that prevents any damage to your keyboard in case of accidental spills. However, it will make using the keys a bit mushy.
